MORATA Morfee Lake Scramble Podium Eligibility & Minimum Participation Policy

1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure fair, competitive, and meaningful podium results at the Morfee Lake Scramble by establishing a minimum participation requirement for all competitive categories.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all categories offered at the Morfee Lake Scramble, including but not limited to:

  • Different sports or disciplines included in the event

  • All gender categories

  • Any additional divisions (e.g., age or skill level), if offered

Each category is evaluated independently for podium eligibility.

3. Minimum Participation Requirement

  • A category must have a minimum of five (5) participants who are registered and who start the event in that category to be eligible for podium awards.

  • Participants who withdraw, do not start (DNS), or are disqualified do not count toward the minimum.

4. Podium Awards

  • When a category meets the minimum requirement of five (5) starters, podium placements (e.g., 1st, 2nd, 3rd) will be awarded in accordance with Morfee Lake Scramble rules.

  • When a category has fewer than five (5) starters:

No podium awards will be presented for that category.

Official results will still be recorded and published for participant, recognition and event records.

5. Exceptional Circumstances

  • The Morfee Lake Scramble organizing committee reserves the right to make exceptions in extraordinary circumstances (e.g., safety concerns, environmental conditions, or unforeseen participant withdrawals).

  • Any exception will be applied fairly and consistently.

7. Communication

This policy will be published as part of the official Morfee Lake Scramble event information and will be communicated to participants before race day.

Podium Award Rationale

To maintain fair, meaningful, and credible competition, podium awards at the Morfee Lake Scramble are limited to categories with sufficient participation. Podium finishes are intended to recognize exceptional performance within a competitive field and awarding them only when a category has an adequate number of participants helps preserve their value and significance. This approach promotes equity across categories, avoids diluting competition through very small fields, and aligns with common sporting event standards, while also ensuring that event resources are used responsibly to support a high quality participant experience for everyone.
